Asian Folk Art Exhibition at BSG

Only a week to go until the Asian Folk Art Exhibition in Melbourne. I sent two large paintings a few days ago and I am just putting the finishing touches to some smaller paintings over the next few days.
I will post a preview in the next few days.

Sweet Dreams of Home

Sweet Dreams of Home - 40 x 50 cm acrylic on Canvas. Available in my Etsy store.

Apologies on the quality of this photo. She is actually lovely in real life but despite my best efforts the camera washes this one out and I just couldn't get a fantastic photo.

Available Art Work

Escape: Plan A

Escape: Plan B

Afraid to Fly

These are three small 8'x 10' (20 x 25 cm) mixed media artworks on canvas. They just arrived home from the BSG (Brunswick Street Gallery) Small Works Exhibition. There were 1500 artworks in total being exhibited. I so wish I could have been there to see that. All three are now available in my Etsy store, the link is in the sidebar.

As a result of the exhibition, I have been invited to particpate in a group exhibition at the Brunswick Street Gallery next month. I will give you a sneak peek when it gets a little closer to opening night.

Biblio-Art Competition

Recently I participated in the Biblio-Art competition in Port Fairy in Victoria. The idea for the competition is to chose a second hand book from the list, read the book and then use the book to create a piece of art. My chosen book was "The Flight to Varennes". Having spent Christmas in Paris I was so excited to finally have an excuse to paint Marie Antonette.

I sent this to Victoria via courier, only to have it go missing on route. It was finally tracked down the day before opening night, still sitting at the Perth depo, despite the courier having it for 2 weeks. I was devasted. It arrived 4 days after opening night, so it was a disappointing experience. The positive outcome though, is that the painting sold within 4 days, and to a well known Australian author. After having such a disappointing start this was such an exciting and unexpected outcome.

Hopeless blogger!

I have had the most amazing time in the past two weeks. I have completed one large painting and have another almost complete (I will post a sneak peak soon) and I have been working on a community project for our Stretch Festival next week.

Here is our Journey Wall'in progress:

Using found objects, we are creating a wall that will showcase the journey that Mandurah has taken as a city as well as sharing the people of Mandurah's stories of how they came to be in Mandurah. Above is the central wall which is at the stage of being ready to painting and embellish. Below is the old section of the wall which is still being built.

I am working on it again today, so I will share some progress photo's soon.
